While the author describes the conflicts and incompatible relations of a newly graduated, idealist young property owner in business and social life before the republic, he also gives important clues about the civil service life and old-fashioned structure of the period. As he drifts from city to town, leaving his principles behind one by one, the young man is dragged to a terrible end with a faulty marriage. He is only able to save his daughter Zehra by chance from the environment full of pain and misery. Acımaka shows his family relations and responsibilities as if he were giving a lesson.
